Behind The Brand

Isn't It Ironic?

Posted by Christy Steele on

Here are some life truths I have been randomly pondering back and forth. 1. Some people say it's never too late to ___________. (fill in the blank with whatever you want.) But let's face it. Sometimes it is. So do the thing you have been putting off. Take one step toward it each day. As I type this I can honestly say I mostly have done that. Buuuutttttt.....there is something that is peeking out from behind a corner in my brain that I haven't taken steps toward in awhile. I need to get on that. 2. If you start a...

I Don’t Have to Help God!

Posted by Shelly James on

I was reading through a post and came across a line that said, “I don’t have to help God.” That really stuck out to me. At first I took a little offense to it. What do you mean, I don’t have to help God? I should help Him do His job. Wouldn’t that make Him happy to have some help? I could be a better person by gossiping less. I could help by trying my hardest to be better in all aspects of my life. But then I almost came to tears. Because ugghhh…. I am trying. I live my...

Write It Down

The Friday morning before I was to go back to school, my phone rang. It was my mom telling me she was in medical distress. We spent the morning in Urgent Care because her doctor couldn’t get her in, and the ER had a 19 hour waiting time. She spent the night with me. The next morning my sister and I knew we had to get her to the ER. As I write this, it is a Tuesday…the tenth day in the hospital. In her moments of awareness she has said she wants us to write a book to tell...

Did you see this blog post's picture? Those are my husband's boots. They're setting right where he pulled them off. And that's perfectly fine with me. Because you know what? I would miss those boots if they weren't there. I would long to see those boots. My heart would ache every time I thought of those missing boots. My perspective changed about things like that back in 2015. That's the year my dad died suddenly. By suddenly I mean WITHOUT WARNING. Not a moment of sickness. He went to sleep and didn't wake up. Those first months after his death,...

No Greater Love

Posted by Christy Steele on

This Memorial Day holiday has me thinking about the verse from the Bible that says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." --John 15:13. (And what about laying down your life for people...and future generations of people you have never even met?) Oh my goodness...it gives me goose bumps thinking of the bravery and sacrifice. And because of my mind lingering on this verse...along with a conversation I had recently with a friend...I have been contemplating friendships.  Am I a good friend? I hope so. I truly do. But the...
