Wild Flowers

When asked your favorite kind of flower, what is your answer? Roses? Gardenias? Carnations? Aren't they all so beautiful? My favorite flower isn't one you will order from a florist. It isn't one you typically see in beautiful arrangements. My favorite flower is the honeysuckle. I know it's technically a vine. But I love the aroma of the flowers on those vines. I love the way they grow wild. I love the simple sweetness they possess. Honeysuckle is also my favorite scent. When asked my favorite flower, I hesitate. Because I know honeysuckle isn't the answer people expect. (My second...

The name of our business is a dead giveaway that Shelly and I are believers. Sometimes they "know we are Christians" (as the old hymn goes) by our words, actions, and love that we show. Sometimes, unfortunately, people have to look a bit deeper. That's because we're humans. God's grace has us covered, when we stray. But regardless if you are a believer or not, we hope you see we are like you in some ways. And even though threads of our spiritual beliefs are woven into our business, our blog posts, our social media, and our business name we...

'I know the title to this blog post seems to be in conflict with what most people think of when they think, "2020". It has even become a catch phrase on social media. "That's so 2020" (along with many more). In no way at all would I want to diminish the trials, heartbreaks, and sickness that many have endured this year. This year hasn't been easy for my family either. But looking back it has been a blessed year. But I tend to be a cup half full type of person. My survival and sanity depends on not letting the...
Dead Plants, Rocks, and Forgiveness

I had an epiphany yesterday. As I typed that word, I thought...no that word is wrong. Don't be dramatic. So I asked the google for a definition, and I believe I did have an epiphany. (...an illuminating discovery...insight...a revealing discovery...) My husband and I had just returned from a 4-wheeler ride to look for deer. We live in the country, and this was a mini date for us. :) We saw eleven deer, and over the course of the ride witnessed the beautiful constantly changing sunset. The whole journey I kept whispering praises to God in my heart. It was...
We May Not Have Toilet Paper, But We Have Hope

Well, friends, I think we would all agree that this year has been an eventful one. It seems like almost each day brings a new wave of SURPRISE! Am I right? If you're wondering what the photo has to do with the title of this blog, keep going. It will be revealed. :) As mentioned in my last blog, Shelly and I left school on March 13 fully expecting to go back in a week or two. But no. We never did. There was the announcement for Shelly's family (along with a lot of you) that school events were cancelled....
